Dr. Mark Miller Offers Dental Bridges
Missing teeth can cause neighboring teeth to tilt or drift toward the empty space. Such tilting can result in a deterioration of bite-relation in the opposing jawline. In layman’s terms, a missing tooth can throw your whole mouth out of whack which could result in a range of TMJ disorders including popping and clicking of the jaw, facial and ear pain, and headaches.
A bridge acts just as its name implies: it bridges the gaps in your smile. A bridge consists of two abutments – dental crowns placed on the teeth adjacent to the gap – which hold an artificial tooth between them. Once you and Dr. Miller have decided that bridgework is right for you, he will shape your abutment teeth, take impressions which will serve as the model for your custom bridge, and fit you with a temporary bridge until your permanent is ready.
Your new bridgework will help restore your smile, your ability to chew and speak properly, and the proper positioning of your remaining teeth.
