On Monday, we looked at how bonding and contouring can help address common esthetic issues. Today, we’re tackling a single procedure that can completely transform the appearance of the teeth. How do veneers improve smiles? Can anyone receive these unique and lifelike restorations?
We create them using porcelain. We use this material for a number of different reasons. First, the material is translucent and reflects light in a similar manner as natural tooth enamel. We can even shade it to help the material better blend with the smile. Porcelain is also strong, and able to withstand powerful bite forces and pressure. Finally, the material is stain-resistant, helping your newly restored teeth to stay bright and beautiful for years to come.
Placement starts with preparation. We will remove a thin layer of enamel and then take detailed impressions. Using these images and impressions, a dental lab will create the restorations. Once complete, you will return to the office so we can check the fit, make any necessary adjustments, and place the restorations on the same visit. The veneers will cover the front and sides of the teeth and with proper care and maintenance potentially last for decades.
We can use them to address a number of different esthetic issues. They can be used to mask discoloration, reshape damaged or malformed teeth, close gaps between teeth, and even correct the appearance of minor misalignment. We can also lengthen worn-down teeth as well. If you have any questions about veneers, their placement, or maintenance, then contact our team today. We want to help you enjoy an esthetically pleasing smile with our lifelike and long-lasting restorations.
